With a creative career spanning over four decades, Elizabeth Emanuel is firmly established as the one of the leading British Couturiers of our time. In 2019, Elizabeth launched her much anticipated new Couture Collection – Atelier Elizabeth, Paris 1902, and has once again become the designer name on everyone’s lips.

 

Elizabeth’s highly individual and instantly recognisable style appeals to a wide range of clients of all ages and backgrounds. Over the course of the last forty years, Elizabeth has had the pleasure of dressing for many of the world’s most well-known celebrities including Bianca Jagger, Elizabeth Taylor, Elizabeth Hurley, Darcey Bussell, Charlize Theron, Barbara and Ringo Starr, Billy and Pamela Connolly, Paula Abdul, Sharon Osbourne, Faye Dunaway, Joan Collins, and Richard and Joan Branson.

 

The launch of her new collection has attracted a new generation to her iconic creations, including Madonna (costumes for Madame X Tour), Cher, Pussycat Dolls,  Rita Ora, Priyanka Chopra & Christina Aguilera.

 

Born and raised in London, Elizabeth married David Emanuel in 1977, and they became the first married couple to be accepted at the Royal College of Art.

 

In 1981, world interest focused on the marriage of Lady Diana Spencer to HRH. The Prince of Wales. It was the Emanuels’ now famous black evening dress that was to change the image of a shy teenager into that of a future Princess. It was to the Emanuels, that Lady Diana Spencer turned, to create her dream wedding dress. 700 million television viewers around the world watched as arguably the most famous dress of the century and the Emanuels made their global stage debut. This led to a long relationship with Princess Diana, with the Emanuels repeatedly dressing her for various public appearances.

 

Elizabeth’s illustrious career and boundless creativity has seen her design for many varied creative projects such as costumes for the Royal Ballet, Ballet Rambert and La Scala, music videos including Enya’s Memory of Trees, three perfume campaigns for Estee Lauder as well as Elizabeth Taylor’s wardrobe for her perfume “White Diamond”. Elizabeth’s iconic designs for Richard Branson’s Virgin Atlantic Airlines even led the way in airline uniform design. 

 

Elizabeth has made frequent television appearances including judging on Project Catwalk and Britain’s New Top Model. She has also appeared in many television documentaries and made other media appearances throughout the world.
