Having begun work at 14, touring Britain, as “The Boy Bruce, The Mighty Atom”, his big break came with Sunday Night At The London Palladium in 1958. The Generation Game cemented his fame. Play Your Cards Right prolonged it. A guest presenter slot on Have I Got News for You in 2003 revived it. Strictly Come Dancing has crowned it.
Forsyth is the last survivor of a generation of performers who learnt how to warm up an audience from playing to a cold crowd in Cleethorpes. He comes from a time when TV presenters grew out of music-hall rather than reality TV. He is the closest Britain has today to Sammy Davis Jr.
Now approaching his 7th decade at the top of the showbusiness world, he is one of the true all-round entertainers, Bruce has returned to his musical roots for the newly-recorded album, “These Are My Favourites”. The selection of songs has been hand-picked by Bruce and all have a special meaning in his life. Together they represent some of the best, and most cherished, popular standards of all time, all lovingly reinterpreted by Bruce and will include a very special ‘duet’ between himself and Nat ‘King’ Cole. Backed by a TV campaign and large promotional plot, These Are My Favourites will introduce Bruce’s unique voice to much of his adoring public for the first time.
Hopefully this collection of recordings that he is making with TCB Group will be a fitting capstone to his career.
